Today, on 28th December 2009, the 80 year old, Champlain Bridge, which connects New York to Vermont, will be demolished.
The 80 year old bridge was earlier closed in October because of safety concerns.
The bridge will be demolished at around 10 a.m. today with controlled explosions.
A report prepared for the New York Department of Transportation said a replacement bridge would cost at least $67 million and take 22 months to build.
About 3,400 vehicles used the bridge every day, and many of those motorists live in one state and work in the other.
