Dilly Duka chosen No. 8 in MLS SuperDraft

A quirk in the Major League Soccer rules prevented Dilly Duka from signing with the Red Bulls in the summer, and after the Red Bulls opted for Virginia midfielder Tony Tchani with the No. 2 overall pick, Duka was not there when the Red Bulls were on the board 12 picks later.

Duka, who played two years at Rutgers, was selected by the Columbus Crew with the 8th overall selection at today’s SuperDraft at the Philadelphia Convention Center.

“Honestly, I didn’t care where I went,” Duka said. “I just want to play. Obviously (Columbus) wants me more and I’m going to go out there and play my hardest.

“I wanted to sign with (the Red Bulls) over the summer and couldn’t, but that’s in the past. I’m looking forward to going to Columbus and playing there and starting my career. Columbus is a great team and I’m really excited about playing there.”

It is useful to try everything in practise anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)
